What a great holiday

It’s been a while since I last wrote. At the moment believe it or not I’m sitting on the warm beach of the Gold coast watching the waves as they hit the shore. It’s going to be a beautiful 22 degrees today although it feels like it’s already hit that. Really enjoying my time up here just relaxing a taking my own sweet time. Being able to run on the beach in the morning and doing my quiet time to the sound of the waves is pretty cool

I think if this trip has taught me anything is the value of family. I’m really blessed to have a great family. To be honest it’s been a fairy tough time on holidays with two young kids but there has been moments of sheer joy. My youngest kid, mika is growing up too fast! She is the most amazingly cheeky little girl. Often back in melb I don’t get to spend a stack of time with her because she’s either sleeping or hungry or I’m spending time with asher. This trip I’ve been so blessed to seeing her more. It seems small but I’m just finding that life is so short and if u don’t make the most of every situation you will find life passes by pretty fast.

It’s 8:50 here and I better get back. Have posted a pic of my view. The picture probably doesn’t do it justice. I’ve got plenty of news and really looking forward to see everyone again!

Welcome to Fungus

Here at Fungus we believe Christianity is not boring and we want to tell the whole world who Christ is. We are a group of energetic, passionate and enthusiastic highschoolers who get together every week on Friday nights.

My wish is that you will take some time to look through this site and perhaps find out a little bit more about what we do. Hopefully you’ll find something that you resonate with … perhaps an event you’d like to attend, a discussion you’d like to take part in or a topic that relates to you.

We hope to see you or hear from you!

God Bless,
Ps. Quentin Loke

Can you believe i baked a cake?

Yesterday was my day off and I spent the day with my wonderful family. We went to chadstone and had a great time. Asher loves the shopping centre because he can run in and out of he shops and pull the clothes off the manequins. Also he loves to reorganize the shelves in the supermarket.

Anyway, last night my family decided to go for a walk down to box hill central because we were craving dessert. About 1.5 hrs later( due to the fact my son keeps getting side tracked by something) I decided it’s time to get my master chef credentials. And as the title of my post says, I decided to bake a cake. A chocolate cake to be precise. It tasted ok. I’ve posted a pic so u can let me know what u think;)

Can't believe it's February!

I can’t believe Fungus launched for 2010 last week. The summer, i have to admit went by really quickly. As i mentioned last Friday at the launch it’s been a life changing summer as Sonja gave birth to our second child, Mika. For those who don’t know the story of the birth of Mika, we were really blessed with the whole birth of Mika. At around 34 weeks we discovered that Mika was breeched in Sonja’s womb which meant it was unlikely she would have a natural birth like she wanted. And so as the date approached we were praying that things would change and go according to our plan. Our doctor didn’t mind delivering a breeched baby, but the only issue was that he be at the hospital when it all happened. So we had to induce the birth of Mika (i know this all sounds technical – but you’ll understand later in life :) ) Anyway, Mika was due to be induced on the 28th January, but instead on the 26th January, Sonja started to have some weird pains and she called me at work at around 4pm and by about 7:00pm, Mika had entered the world – naturally! It was stressful for a period there and we were quite anxious, but God’s hand was really evident. Couldn’t ask for much more!

Anyway, as with the title of my blog, this year is flying by again. Each week seems to pass by so quickly. People always ask me, what does a pastor do? You must be so free – but believe me, there’s never enough time in the day. On top of all the Friday and Sunday preparations, there’s always other things that need to be done. This is my 5th year as a pastor, and it’s had it’s fair share of ups and downs. I still remember it wasn’t too long ago Shaun was the most random person in the world. Now he’s like working with me here. Life will never be boring again :)

I think one of the things God is really challenging me about is taking the time to reflect. I looked at little boy, Asher the other day – and he’s now grown up so fast. He’s walking everywhere. It was only a year ago he was less than half that size. I’m really going to take time out more this year to reflect because otherwise my whole life could pass by so quickly and i wouldn’t even know it. that would be scary.

Thought i’d upload another pic of my beautiful kids :) I can’t get enough of them!

Thanks shaun for creating this
